Book Cost, sometimes referred to as Book Value, is the total cost of purchasing a security. It includes any transaction charges related to the position (such as commissions) and is adjusted for reinvested distributions, return of capital, corporate actions and any subsequent purchases.
In the platform, it is not possible to amend the book cost of a holding directly. The book cost is calculated by the platform using the underlying transactional data that creates the holding. You can only amend the transferred book cost of an in-specie transfer, which will then contribute towards the book cost of the holding.
Access to the book cost management page for an individual account is via the “Manage in specie transfer book costs” permission. Access requests for new roles and permissions need to go via @GBO Support (applicable to Titan).
Awaiting book value

In cases that an asset displays 'Awaiting book value' under 'Book Value' column, it means that the book cost has not provided, the platform assumes it to be zero. Typically, this results in the ‘awaiting book cost’ display for the asset. Book cost for the original in specie transfer can be added by going to Accounts > [account name] > In specie transfers, then the performance for the whole holding would display correctly. If no book cost is known, you could estimate it using the units and price at transfer date, but the platform does not do it automatically.
